3D Printing in the world

A Guide on how 3D Printing is being used arround the world.

3D Printing

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital model. This is convenient for the fact that the computer makes all the measurements and all you need to do is plug everything in. Print jobs can take a while, but the precision is worth the wait.
3D printing has more advantages than disadvantages now. 3D printing allows production timing and costs to be cut. The precision of the printed object adds to the all-out better quality. 3D printing can allow small businesses and entrepreneurs to get ahead in their field due to their ability to produce a product cheaply and quickly.

3D printers are making their way into healthcare. Printers in hospitals can allow manufacturing of personalised orthopedic joint replacement kits. Along with that it can be made on site, which comes in handy for emergency procedures. Printers have become cheaper in recent years and it is becoming more common for use in business. Actual production of a product in a 3D printer is shorter than that of a factory with robots or workers.

3D printing can be used for construction now. In Amsterdam, a construction of 13 room canal house took place, all made from a 3D printer. The house is described as LEGO looking. The printer used to create the “bricks” of the house stand 20 ft tall and can produce a huge interlocking brick in a week. At the beginning of the project only a 10ft corner of the building was completed before the public showing. This corner weighed over 400 pounds and was constructed on site after each “brick” was printed off. The designers wanted to make a house that was eco-friendlier, so the type of raw material they used in the printer is 80% plant based. The project team considers this material — and the technology behind it — to be a potential game-changer.

“The building industry is one of the most polluting and inefficient industries out there. With 3D-printing, there is zero waste, reduced transportation costs, and everything can be melted down and recycled. This could revolutionise how make our cities.”
